Tumbleweed – an exhibition

By 20 November 2015No Comments

TumbleweedIf one had to consider the act of tumbling as one whose outcome is unpredictable and the property of a weed as being that of an opportunistic growth, then the name Tumbleweed introduces a peculiar kind of artistic activity. It is a process whereby artwork grows and ferments through the interaction between artists, whose own personal narrative is one of a wandering nature.

Here four artists are brought together over a period of 9 months by a curator with a difference. Joe Philippe Abela is an art custodian whose knowledge and zeal has him bent on promoting the happenings of art; any way it wants to go. The artists are Pam Baldacchino, Mark Lughermo, Robert Zahra and Andrea Zerafa. Together they have rubbed elbow to elbow, carrying out workshops and inviting other artists to contribute with their feedback and discussion. The work that emerged is an engagement on the artist’s part with the elusive, be it a deep sense of loss, the experience of separation and consequent absence, together with, an exploration of boundaries and physical spaces which are caught in this transition.
