AMuSE Third Artist-in-Residence in Dusetos
The third artist-in-residency was hosted by Dusetos Art Gallery, Lithuania between the 23 April and 13 May 2019. Eleven (11) of the 16 participants were residing at ‘Inventors Valley’, Antaliepte to conduct artistic research in the context of cultural heritage as expressed through folklore and ideological facets related to the history of Lithuania.
The artists were Aaron Bezzina (MT), Matthew Attard (MT), Mark Buitenwerf (NL), Vilius Vaitiekūnas (NL), Laura Laasik (NL), Roberta Vrubliauskaite (LT), Kristina Gedžiūnaitė (LT), Julius Visakavicius (LT), Mykolas Sauka (LT), Ivana Volpe (IT) and Daniele Fabiani (IT).
The artists attended various workshops with different artistic groups and had the opportunity to visit main art sites such as the CAC in Vilnius and the MO Museum amongst others. The residency was led by curator Aivaras Micius and artistic director Roderick Camilleri. By the end of the residency the artists showcased their work in a final exhibition at Dusetos Art Gallery Centre titled ‘Traces’.
