Carmine Lauri was recently on a one-day visit  to Malta to perform exclusively for the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce’s 160th Anniversary Concert. The concert was held at the Casino Maltese in Valletta, at which Mro Lauri accompanied by pianist Simon Hester played excerpts from Tartini’s ‘Devil’s Trill Sonata’, Beethoven’s ‘Sonata No.2 in A’, Dvorak’s ‘Sonatina’,  Gershwin’s ‘Porgy & Bess Suite’ and Weiniawski’s ‘Souvenir de Moscou’.

The concert held on the evening of October 16 attracted a packed house who welcomed Mro Lauri.  The event was  introduced with a welcome address by the President of the Malta Society of Arts, Mamufactures and Commerce, Judge Filletti who gave some background information on the history and activities of the Society and on the special marking of the 160th anniversary of its foundation this year. Judge Filletti thanked Middlesea Insurance for their support. The evening was a memorable one with the audience’s hearty encores encouraging Mro Lauri to play extra musical pieces out of the programme, as requested by members of the audience, mostly Society members.  Afterwards, a reception was held.
