Opening times: Monday – Friday 10.00hrs to Noon and 17:00 to 19:00hrs. Saturday 10:00hrs to Noon.
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce will receive visitors at its premises, Palazzo de La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta. During the open week, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the classrooms and workshops where various courses in visual art, traditional crafts and music are held. These include painting & drawing, woodcarving, floral art, special effects film/tv make-up, introduction to photography, cake decorating, embroidery, ganutel, monastary, malta lace, crochet, knitting, tailoring, parchment, cottage craft, soft furnishing, crib building, gilding, guitar, pianoforte, violin and voice studies.
The scholastic year at the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce starts in October and ends in May. Summer courses are also organised. The objective of this open week is to make the public aware with the opportunities the 160 year old Society offers. The courses are open to all ages and can be followed either during the morning hours or evenings. For the current academic year more than 600 students are following 60 programmes. The public will also have the opportunity to view an Exhibition of Paintings and Sculptures by two of Malta’s mayor artists, Harry Alden and Ganni Bonnici.
