The Rhythm of Fading – An exhibition by Joseph Farrugia

“The Rhythm of Fading” is an exhibition of paintings by artist Joseph Farrugia. In this collection, Farrugia delves into the fleeting nature of existence, set against the continuum of time and space. Drawing inspiration from spirituality, philosophy, and scientific exploration, his paintings offer a meditative reflection on the transitory experience of being and consciousness.

Through the interplay of voids, layers, and intricate forms, Farrugia invites viewers to transcend the constraints of the present moment, contemplating not only the impact of time on the self but also its extension into the infinite. His work invites the audience to explore the complexity of time and reflect on its significance through the central figure of the juggler, who brings a steady rhythm to his craft while navigating the chaotic motions of movement.

JOSEPH FARRUGIA – ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Joseph Farrugia (b. 1959) is a Maltese visual artist who has been engaged in drawing and painting throughout his life. In addition to his artistic practice, he has taught art at the post-secondary level and currently lectures on visual literacy for marketers at the University of Malta.

Farrugia is also known for his work as an economist, specialising in industrial relations and social dialogue. His dual career reflects his wide-ranging interests in both the structural aspects of society and the inner workings of human consciousness.

Farrugia has exhibited his work in numerous venues, including the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Archaeology, Spazju Kreattiv, the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Splendid Gallery, Iniala Gallery, and most recently at MUZA in 2023.
