Organised by NAPA – National Agency for the Performing Arts
A Celebration of Walter Micallef’s Legacy and the Future of Maltese Song
Tennija – a Maltese word evoking continuation and renewal – presents two special concerts that bridge generations through music. This unique project revisits the songs of veteran singer-songwriter Walter Micallef, whose work has long shaped the Maltese music scene.
In Tennija, Micallef’s timeless melodies and lyrics are reinterpreted by a new generation of Maltese-language singers, breathing fresh life into his repertoire while honouring its original spirit.
Alongside these new voices, Walter will perform lesser-known works – even among his longtime fans – as well as previously unreleased songs, affirming his enduring creativity and relevance. A heartfelt blend of tradition and reinvention, Tennija celebrates the legacy of a master songwriter while looking ahead to the voices of tomorrow.
