Tabula Rasa – An exhibition by Josèf Farrugia

Tabula Rasa brings together a series of works that examine the role of the viewer within the exhibition space, questioning how meaning is constructed through acts of observation, expectation, and participation. Drawing attention to the often-overlooked expectations of the visitor, the exhibition reflects on the relationship between perception and context, inviting audiences to reconsider how they engage with artworks and the environments that contain them. Through subtle interventions and shifts in material language, Tabula Rasa creates moments of pause and uncertainty, encouraging a heightened awareness of one’s own presence within the exhibition space.

Josèf Farrugia – Artist Biography

Josèf Farrugia is a multidisciplinary artist working across design, photography, and object-based practices. After pursuing an education in design at the University of Malta, Farrugia’s work has developed through an engagement with both visual communication and contemporary artistic practice.

Working between design and art, Farrugia’s approach is informed by an interest in material, composition, and the relationship between form and meaning. His photographic and design work often explores how visual language can be shaped, recontextualised, and interpreted across different media.

His practice reflects an ongoing exploration of how ideas are communicated and experienced, positioning his work at the intersection of structured design thinking and open-ended artistic inquiry.
