Developed during his Pax Kultura residency in Malta, Colombian artist Alejandro Luna presents a new body of work that uses batik as a process of material layering, tracing how neutrality takes shape through image, sound and spatial encounters.
Through layered surfaces and an accompanying sound piece, Luna explores how neutrality becomes embedded in the material world, translated into forms of architecture, ecology and memory.
Neutrality Unfurled invites visitors to consider how practices of neutrality are learned, adapted and re-imagined across different cultural and historical contexts, and how these ideas may circulate as transferable modes of coexistence.
Presented through the Artist in Residency initiative by the Culture Directorate, in collaboration with Malta Society of Arts and Valletta Cultural Agency, through the Valletta Design Cluster.
