MSA Performing Arts Programme 2024: ConTempo

What is ConTempo?

ConTempo is a new classical and contemporary music concert series focusing on but not limited to the modern turn of the 20th century chamber music repertoire to oeuvres closer to our time as well as specially commissioned compositions. The series will see a selection of Maltese and Malta-based performing artists such as Gabi Sultana (piano), Gjorgji Cincievski (double bass), Sandro Zerafa (guitar), Ġużé Camilleri (percussion), and KorMalta, as well as Maltese contemporary composers. ConTempo is curated and produced by composer Karl Fiorini.
This project forms part of the Malta Society of Arts’ Performing Arts Programme 2024 and is supported by Arts Council Malta.

Artistic Director: Karl Fiorini

Karl Fiorini – Artistic Director’s Biography

Karl is a composer,  festival director and concert producer. He read for a Masters in Music composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and obtained his Doctorate from the Royal College of Music, London. His output of more than 50 works ranging from solo to chamber, to music for film, theatre and dance, and large symphonic compositions are regularly performed throughout Europe and is much in demand as a composer. His works have been released by Divine Art Recordings and Grand Piano Naxos. Since 2007 he is the Artistic Director of the Malta Spring Festival [www.maltaspringfestival.com], an annual festival that celebrates the realms of classical and contemporary music, showcasing a captivating blend of talent across various genres, by renowned artists, as well as providing a platform for rising stars to shine.
