Ħoss it-Truf

30 October | 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Ħoss it-Truf

Clarinet: Noel Curmi, Double Bass: Abigail Grech

An intimate evening of chamber music unfolds at the historic Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta, bringing together the distinctive sounds of the clarinet and double bass in an unusual and captivating musical dialogue.

Clarinettist Noel Curmi and double bassist Abigail Grech present a carefully curated programme featuring works by Paul Hindemith, William Jay Sydeman, Ian Deterling and Morton Gould, exploring the remarkable colours, contrasts and expressive possibilities of this uncommon instrumental combination.

At the heart of the evening is the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by Maltese composer Carl Borg, created especially for the duo. The new composition forms part of a celebration of contemporary Maltese creativity, placing an original local sound alongside established works from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Ħoss it-Truf invites audiences to discover the unexpected dialogue between two instruments rarely heard together in this setting; an evening where contrasting timbres, musical traditions and contemporary creativity meet in an intimate celebration of chamber music.
