Help Preserve Malta’s Cultural Memory – Join Our Archive Project as a Volunteer
The Malta Society of Arts (MSA) is proud to announce a landmark collaboration with the National Archives of Malta (NAM), aimed at preserving, organising and providing public access to the MSA’s extensive archival collection, which dates back to the Society’s founding in 1852.
As part of this exciting initiative, we are currently seeking dedicated long-term volunteers to assist in the professional processing of our historical documents.
This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to contribute to a national cultural heritage project, working alongside MSA staff and under the expert guidance of professional archivists from the National Archives of Malta. The work will involve helping to catalogue and organise the collection, support the development of a new internal archival structure, and participate in efforts to digitise and safeguard fragile materials such as photographs and early records.
What We’re Looking For:
- Someone with a keen interest in history, culture, arts administration or archival studies
- Organised, reliable and attentive to detail
- Able to commit a few hours a week on a flexible basis over the coming months
- Previous experience in archival work or records management is a plus, but not essential – training will be provided

Location: Malta Society of Arts, 219 Republic Street, Valletta
Schedule: Flexible part-time hours
Duration: Long-term volunteer (minimum 3-6 months preferred)
