An Evening of Music: From the Archive of Joseph Calleia
Organised by the Storm Petrel Foundation
On the 50th anniversary of his passing, the Storm Petrel Foundation is organising an event celebrating the life and work of Hollywood actor and musician Joseph Calleia. Maria Frendo will give a brief overview of Calleia’s life and work, after which well-known soprano Miriam Cauchi will perform songs and arias, including one of Calleia’s own compositions, while talented young pianist Francis Camilleri will play a handful of Chopin Mazurkas. All this music is found in Calleia’s archives, which attests to the actor/musician’s eclectic and diverse tastes.
This event complements The Storm Petrel Foundation’s ‘The Culturally Curious Exhibition Series: Joseph Calleia On Stage and Screen: Celebrating a Maltese Icon’, being shown at its premises at 79, Triq San Anton, Attard, until 15 December 2025.
Date: Tuesday 25 November 2025
Venue: Malta Society of Arts, 219 Republic Street, Valletta
Entry is free of charge. Donations to The Storm Petrel Foundation are welcome. Reservation is advised.
