This practical weaving and textile course introduces participants to contemporary approaches to weaving, knotting, and textile-based art practices. Inspired by traditional craft techniques and contemporary fibre art, participants will explore weaving through handmade processes using yarn, rope, cotton, wool, recycled textiles, and natural materials.
The course focuses on slow-making, repetition, texture, and material exploration while encouraging participants to develop their own creative textile pieces. Participants will experiment with simple loom weaving, open weaving structures, knotting techniques, and sculptural textile forms.
The course welcomes beginners and encourages mindful, process-oriented making in a relaxed, supportive studio environment. Wooden frames will be provided by MSA. The list of material will be provided to applicants prior to the commencement of the course.
