‘AMuSE’ aims to create a platform for transnational mobility between emerging and promising artists. This comprises artist-in-residency programmes in the 4 participating countries where the artists delved into their personal research and artistic creations, in line with the artistic aims of the project. The residencies were designed to create a community of artists working together in joined venture projects and collective interventions.
During its implementation period, the project includes 4 mobilities, one per participating country:
– First Mobility (Artist-in-Residency) – Italy: 12- 30 March 2018
– Second Mobility (Artist-in-Residency) – The Netherlands: 13 September – 3 October 2018
– Third Mobility (Artist-in-Residency) – Lithuania: 23 April – 13 May 2019
– Fourth Mobility (Closing Events) – Malta: September 2019
As part of the artist-in residency programmes, the project will adopt various strategies and initiatives, such as lectures, on-sites visits and cultural trips. Artists from different contexts will be given a new possibility to engage and study cultural scenarios, disclosing facets of sensorial traditions which are usually neglected.
The extended residencies will promote transnational mobility for emerging artists, facilitating international relationships between different artistic and cultural contexts within the EU. This will promote transnational interconnectivity between artists and cultures, creating a resourceful intercultural fertilisation, endorsing cultural diversity, social inclusion and most of all, further research on the intercultural facets.
Through the various side-activities to take place during the mobilities of the artists, the project aims to strengthen and develop diverse audiences by producing the necessary elements for a dialogue, illustrating interpretations of rich layers of tangible and intangible heritage and legacies of European countries related to the tradition of sensorial experiences and how they evolved around traditional customs. Furthermore, it also aims to rethink and project new and innovative ways for documenting, preserving and communicating data to different audiences.
